WEEK 5

16 FEBRUARY 2024: NEW YORK Last night was one of those busy nights with hubby coming and going right through the night, so did not have a good night! We were both tired when it was time to get up this morning, I got up and tipped toed around not to wake him and left him to sleep until he had to get up! Decided to skip breakfast and get off early to enjoy the beautiful day in New York so left hubby behind for he could only get off at about 11. Was another very cold day in the Big Apple with the snow still lying around but did not feel as cold as the first time round, think they said 2,3 degrees today and not – 2.3. The windchill is the problem when you are walking around outside, all you have open is your nose and eyes, everything else is covered up and you don’t really care what you look like, just want to be warm. Central Park had snow lying around and in the open spaces blankets of snow to see, The Pond had an area of the pond/water iced with pieces of ice lying on the ic...

WEEK 4

6 FEBRUARY 2024: NEW YORK CITY Today we were late due to the tides, something to do with sailing in on the Hudson River and under the bridge have seen when we sail out not much leeway. So realized that today was going to be a busy day with us docking later than usual, so you need to book a flight late afternoon just in case something like this happens. Was -2.6 degrees outside so still very cold and you needed all the warm clothing you have. I decided to visit my favorite bakery, Levain’s for a croissant and an americano coffee, was my breakfast for the day, so that was heaven after the walk in the cold. In the bakery they had hand warmers that I have never seen before did not even know you get things like that, they come in a packet that you activate once you open it and gives you up to 10 hours of heat how amazing is that. Popped in at a very old barber shop close to Central Park and asked if I could take a few photos and a video, just loved that, felt like going back in ti...

WEEK 3

27 JANUARY 2024: NEW YORK Sailed into New York early morning but this morning we were lazy to get up, some days you just feel like chilling and sleeping late but we had to get going for I had to be off the ship by 9, because all the passengers need to be off the ship so that it can be cleared by the local authorities before the next passengers can get on, so n hele proses. I had a quick breakfast and off I went wanted to see what the Little Island is all about, have seen it from the ship when we sail out every week and just looked so interesting. We are docked at Pier 88, and I needed to get to Pier 55 so is a bit of a walk but was a nice day and not freezing like on last visit. Here and there I saw piles of snow still lying around. They call this island in the Hudson River an urban oasis it was designed by Barry Diller in 2013 after Hurricane Sandy and he wanted to create an experience with art and nature. I really enjoyed my time there and had such fun with music chimes o...
